1. Introduction
Purpose of This Policy
Rod.tn ('Rod', 'we', 'us', or 'the Platform') uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit www.rod.tn. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage or withdraw your consent to their use.
This Cookie Policy forms an integral part of our Privacy Policy, to which it should be read in conjunction. By continuing to use the Platform, you acknowledge having been informed of our cookie practices as described herein.
Legal Framework
Our cookie practices are governed by Tunisian Law No. 2004-63 of 27 July 2004 on the protection of personal data. For users located in the European Union or who otherwise benefit from European data protection standards, this Policy is designed to be compatible with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the principles of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC.
In accordance with these frameworks, strictly necessary cookies may be placed without prior consent. All other cookies require your prior, freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent, which you may grant or refuse via our cookie preference centre at any time.
Scope of Application
This Policy applies to all cookies and similar technologies deployed on www.rod.tn. It does not apply to the websites or digital properties of rental agencies listed on the Platform, which operate their own independent cookie and privacy policies.
2. What Are Cookies
Definition
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are sent by a web server to your browser and returned to the server on each subsequent visit, enabling the website to recognise your device and remember certain information about your preferences or interactions.
Cookies may be set directly by the Platform ('first-party cookies') or by third-party services operating on our behalf ('third-party cookies'). They may persist on your device for a fixed period ('persistent cookies') or be deleted automatically when you close your browser ('session cookies').
Similar Technologies
In addition to cookies, the Platform may use similar tracking technologies, including:
- Pixel tags (also referred to as web beacons or tracking pixels): small transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that transmit information to a server when loaded.
- Server-side event tracking: such as the Meta Conversions API (CAPI), which transmits user interaction data directly from our server to the Meta platform, independently of browser-side cookies.
- Local storage and session storage: browser-based mechanisms that allow the Platform to store data on your device outside of traditional cookies, used solely for technical and functional purposes.
Data Processed Through Cookies
Depending on the category of cookie, the information processed may include technical identifiers, browsing behaviour, pages visited, time spent on the Platform, device and browser type, IP address, and interactions with Platform features such as search forms and booking drafts.
Rod does not use cookies to collect payment data, identity document information, or any sensitive personal data as defined under applicable law.
3. Categories of Cookies Used
Overview of Categories
The Platform uses cookies falling into three distinct categories, each subject to a different consent regime:
- Strictly necessary cookies: essential to the operation of the Platform; deployed without prior consent.
- Preference cookies: used to remember your settings and personalisation choices; subject to consent.
- Advertising and marketing cookies: used for audience measurement, campaign optimisation, and targeted advertising; subject to prior explicit consent.
Consent Requirement
Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from prior consent requirements under applicable law, as they are indispensable to the delivery of the service you have expressly requested. All other cookies are activated only after you have given your explicit consent via the cookie banner displayed upon your first visit to the Platform.
Your consent is collected in a granular manner: you may accept or refuse each category of non-essential cookies independently. Refusal of advertising or preference cookies will not prevent you from accessing and using the core features of the Platform.
Absence of Analytics Cookies
Rod.tn does not currently deploy dedicated analytics or audience measurement cookies (such as Google Analytics or equivalent tools) beyond the advertising measurement capabilities provided by Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API, which are described in detail in Section 6.
Should additional analytics tools be introduced in the future, this Policy will be updated accordingly and users will be notified prior to the deployment of such technologies.
4. Strictly Necessary Cookies
Definition and Legal Basis
Strictly necessary cookies are those without which the Platform cannot function correctly. They enable core features such as user authentication, session management, security enforcement, and the temporary retention of booking data entered by users. These cookies do not require your prior consent and cannot be disabled without impairing the functionality of the Platform.
The legal basis for the placement of strictly necessary cookies is the performance of the service contract between you and Rod.tn, as well as our legitimate interest in maintaining a secure and functional platform.
Cookies Deployed
The following strictly necessary cookies are currently used by the Platform:
- Authentication session cookie: identifies your authenticated session and maintains your logged-in state throughout your visit. This cookie is deleted when you log out or close your browser.
- Security cookie: used to detect and prevent fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorised access attempts. It supports CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection and other security mechanisms integral to the Platform's integrity.
- Booking draft cookie: temporarily stores the data entered during an incomplete vehicle rental request, allowing you to resume your booking without having to re-enter information if you navigate away from the form. This cookie contains only the textual data you have voluntarily entered and does not store any payment or document information.
- Technical infrastructure cookies: cookies set by our hosting infrastructure (AWS and/or Hetzner) for load balancing, routing, and server-side session management purposes. These cookies do not collect personal data for marketing purposes.
Consequences of Disabling Strictly Necessary Cookies
If you configure your browser to block or delete strictly necessary cookies, certain features of the Platform may not function as intended. In particular, you may be unable to log in, maintain an authenticated session, or complete a booking request.
Rod.tn accepts no liability for any degradation of service resulting from the user's deliberate choice to disable strictly necessary cookies through browser settings.
6. Advertising and Marketing Technologies
General Principles
Rod.tn uses advertising and marketing technologies to measure the effectiveness of its promotional campaigns, optimise audience targeting, and improve the overall relevance of the advertising it delivers. These technologies are subject to your prior explicit consent and are not activated until such consent has been obtained.
Refusal of advertising cookies will not prevent you from accessing the Platform or using its core features. It will, however, mean that any advertising you encounter on third-party platforms will not be based on your interactions with Rod.tn.
Meta Pixel
The Platform integrates Meta Pixel, a browser-side tracking technology provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. When activated, Meta Pixel places one or more cookies on your device and records certain events triggered by your interaction with the Platform, such as page views, searches, and booking initiations. This data is transmitted to Meta Platforms, Inc. and used to measure the performance of Rod.tn's advertising campaigns on Meta's platforms (including Facebook and Instagram), to build and refine advertising audiences, and to optimise the delivery of targeted advertisements.
Meta Pixel is only activated upon your prior explicit consent. If you refuse advertising cookies, Meta Pixel will not be deployed on your device and no data will be transmitted to Meta Platforms, Inc. through this channel.
Meta Conversions API (CAPI)
In addition to Meta Pixel, Rod.tn uses the Meta Conversions API (CAPI), a server-side integration that transmits certain user interaction events directly from our servers to Meta Platforms, Inc., without relying on browser-side cookies. CAPI enables more accurate and resilient measurement of advertising performance, particularly in environments where browser-based tracking may be limited by browser settings or ad-blocking software.
Unlike browser-side cookies, CAPI operates at the server level and is therefore not governed by browser cookie settings. However, its use in connection with advertising measurement is conditional on your consent to advertising cookies, and Rod.tn will not transmit data to Meta via CAPI for marketing measurement purposes without your prior consent where required by applicable law.
International Transfers
The use of Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API results in the transfer of certain data to Meta Platforms, Inc., a company headquartered in the United States. Such transfers are subject to the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, or equivalent legal safeguards, as required by applicable data protection law.
For further information on Meta's data processing practices, including the legal bases and safeguards applicable to international data transfers, please refer to Meta's own Privacy Policy, accessible at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy.
7. Managing and Withdrawing Consent
Cookie Preference Centre
Upon your first visit to the Platform, a cookie banner will be displayed inviting you to accept or refuse the different categories of non-essential cookies. You may grant or refuse consent for each category independently. Your preferences will be stored and applied to all subsequent visits.
You may modify or withdraw your consent at any time by accessing the cookie preference centre, which is accessible via the dedicated link displayed in the footer of the Platform. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out on the basis of consent prior to its withdrawal.
Browser-Level Cookie Management
In addition to the Platform's cookie preference centre, most modern web browsers allow you to control cookie settings directly. You may configure your browser to:
- Block all cookies or specific categories of cookies from being placed on your device.
- Delete existing cookies stored on your device at any time.
- Receive a notification before a cookie is placed, allowing you to accept or refuse on a case-by-case basis.
Consequences of Refusing Non-Essential Cookies
Refusing preference or advertising cookies will not impair your access to the core features of the Platform. You will remain able to browse available vehicles, submit booking requests, manage your account, and communicate with rental agencies.
Refusing strictly necessary cookies via browser settings may, however, impair or prevent certain core platform features, including user authentication and booking draft retention, as described in Section 4.

Rod.tn reserves the right to update this Cookie Policy at any time in order to reflect changes in applicable law, technological developments, or modifications to the cookies and tracking technologies deployed on the Platform.
Any material modification to this Policy will be communicated to users via a prominent notice on the Platform prior to the change taking effect. Where such modifications affect cookies that are subject to consent, users will be invited to renew their consent preferences accordingly.
